THANK YOU to all who donated money or extra hats and mittens to Headstart. With the donations from you, and the money from our Social Concerns Committee, the teachers were able to buy warm hats and mittens for every child. They also have money to buy other needed items for the children’s learning. Thank you so much for caring!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE ANNUAL MEETING, VOTING & BALLOTS:
We have received information from the Synod in regards to the annual meetings and voting.  Our constitution does not allow voting by proxy or by absentee ballot.  The Synod has approved a few ways for members to vote who do not attend the meeting.  FLC Council has approved the following voting procedure:

  • Pastor has agreed to have drive thru communion from 8-9 am on January 17.
  • At this time, (8-9 am) you may drop off your ballot with Pastor if you do not plan to attend the meeting at 10 am.   These ballots will be added to the final vote.
  • We cannot accept any mailed in ballots.
  • We cannot accept a ballot for a voting member who is not in the car.  Example:  A family of 2 and only one comes to drive thru with 2 votes the one vote will not count.
  • A member of council will be present to accept the votes at that time.

This will be the procedure for the 2021 annual meeting on January 17 only.
Annual Reports & Ballots will be e-mailed/mailed on January 8 to give you time to read them over.

THE COLLECTING OF STAMPS WILL CONTINUE!!
Before everyone disposes of their Christmas cards or any other mail with a stamp, please remember that the Southeastern Iowa Synodical Women’s Organization is working with other Women of the ELCA groups to donate canceled stamps to the ministry of Lutheran World Relief.  The canceled stamps are sent to a group that sorts and sells used stamps to collectors around the world.  Thus far, 65 million stamps have been collected by this group in Kyle, Texas, and they have donated $42,000 to the shipping fund of Lutheran World Relief to ship quilts and kits around the world.  To help you participate, we provide the following information:  not only canceled stamps but unused ones as well; commemorative and seasonal stamps are most valued.  Cut the stamps from the envelope leaving 1/4 inch around the stamps so as not to damage the stamps.  Continue to save your stamps and drop them into the container on the desk in the Fireside Room at First Lutheran.

FLC OFFERING NUMBERS FOR 2021:  Your offering number for 2021 will be the same as your 2020 offering number.  Offering numbers are listed in the red folder on the desk in the Fireside Room.  It is in the box with the offering envelopes.  Please make sure you are using the correct number.  Thank you!!

JANUARY IS LAUNDRY SUPPLIES MONTH for the Ministry Center.  Examples would be detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, bleach, stain remover, etc. Thank you!

THE SNOW REMOVAL SIGN-UP SHEET is posted on the bulletin board in the Fireside Room.  Please check your schedule to see when you may be able to help with this ministry!
